About the university
UNINETTUNO is born from the teaching model NETTUNO network for the University Anywhere, a consortium of 43 Italian and foreign universities, with which, since 1992, thousands of students have graduated distance through television and the Internet. Many of these universities currently provide UNINETTUNO physical facilities, such as laboratories for study and education, libraries, computer rooms and classes to support face-to-face examinations for students. UNINETTUNO also derives from the international success of the MedNet'U project (the Mediterranean network of universities), funded by the European Commission under the EURMEDISA program, for the creation of a remote Euro-Mediterranean university. With Net'U Med, a network of 31 universities was established from 11 Euro-Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, France, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey). The development of Med Net'U from the system project was supported by the governments of the partner countries.
