About the university
The LIUC is conceived in 1989 by the convergent desire of 300 entrepreneurs from the Province of Varese (UNIVA) and Alto Milanese to create an economics-technical-juridical-scientific-managerial university that prepares young people according to the real needs of the world Of work. LIUC is the only Italian university founded and directly managed by an Entrepreneurial Association, created to provide training as closely as possible to the demands of the business world and adapted to a territorial context characterized by a widespread presence of small and medium-sized businesses Medium size and numerous service functions to the manufacturing companies. An entirely new initiative, therefore, was to fill an empty present in the Italian educational landscape. In October 1991, just 26 months after the start of the project, academic activities began, transforming LIUC into the seventh non-state university in the Italian system, a concrete expression of the need for strategic synergy between universities, businesses and territories.
