About the university
The University of Brescia was officially founded in 1982, divided into three departments of medicine and surgery, engineering and economics. The pregnancy phase, however, was almost two decades, returning to the early sixties, the first attempts to bring university courses to Brescia. The first initiative came from the Chamber of Commerce and the Provincial Administration, which began in the early sixties negotiations to establish within two years in engineering as a branch at the Polytechnic University in Milan. Excessive financial burden to expect from the estimates prepared at the Polytechnic was to abandon the project. After this first timid attempt, the formation of the embryonic nuclei of the future faculty of Brescia after two different roads, one relative to the Department of Economics and other engineering and medicine.
