About the university
The University of Florence has its origins in the General Student, which the Florentine Republic wanted to give birth in 1321 to the Subjects then taught law, civil and canon, letters and medicine. As teachers called many famous names: Giovanni Boccaccio was appointed to a lecture on the Divine Comedy. The importance of Studit was sanctioned by Pope Clement VI Bubble, with which the securities were acknowledged and approved issued, were renewed the privileges of the highs already granted at the University of Bologna and Paris, the theology department was established. In 1364, Emperor Charles IV, a Florentine studio became the Imperial University. Doctors at the time of their coming to power in Tuscany, exiled him in Pisa in 1472: this year, there were frequent transfers, as government changes. Charles VIII moved him back to Florence from 1497 to 1515, when, with the return of the Medici, the Student again moved to Pisa. They stayed in Florence, even after that date, many exercises, while the studies had good support in numerous academies flourished at the same time, for example, bran and the Accademia del Cimento.
