International students friendly

The University has an International Students’ Office (ISO) which is specifically equipped to support our international students by facilitating their recruitment, registration, accommodation and sponsorship. To facilitate their adjustment the ISO organizes a number of functions for international students; City Tour in August, a Welcome Reception and in April the Registrar's Dinner for all final-year International students. Student visa

All non-Commonwealth students are required to have valid visas before entering Jamaica. Students from Commonwealth counties, with the exception of Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands do not require a visa. Non-Commonwealth nationals and those from Commonwealth Countries on which a visa requirement has been imposed must contact the nearest Jamaican Consulate or High Commission to secure their visas before they arrive in Jamaica.

Accommodation

Upon arrival, the Accommodations Office will assist and direct you to your Hall of Residence. Prospective students desirous of housing on-campus must complete a “Boarding Application Form”. The application period for summer and year-long students is October 1 to January 31. Scholarships

Scholarships and Bursaries are awarded annually mainly to full-time Jamaican nationals studying at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. However, there are specific scholarships available to Caribbean nationals. A Scholarship Listing is prepared for each academic year providing information on all available scholarships and criteria for each. The application period for scholarships opens around the 3rd week of April each year and the closing dates are as follows (unless otherwise stated)
