Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov

Non-commercial joint-stock company “Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov” is a regional, multidisciplinary Kazakhstani university working in the system of higher and postgraduate education. The university is the largest educational and scientific center of the Almaty region, actively participates in the socio-economic and spiritual development of the region. During 49 years, more than 52,000 specialists (including 37,450 graduates in the field of “Education”) have graduated from the university, and are currently working in various branches of education, economy and production of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2020, the university has been in the TOP-200-251 of the best universities in developing Europe and Central Asia in the QS regional ranking, and takes 8th place among 95 universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the ARES ranking. In the national ranking of IQAA (Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education), the university is in the top ten multidisciplinary universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan (9th place). To this date, the university has 7 Faculties; the educational process is carried out by 22 Departments. The University trains specialists in 117 educational programs: - 53 bachelor’s degree programs; - 54 master’s degree programs (scientific-pedagogical and specialized directions); - 10 doctoral degree programs. 38 bachelor’s degree programs, 28 master’s degree programs, 3 doctoral degree programs are accredited by the international agencies ACQUIN and IQAA. The university implements a multilingual education program. In the 2020-2021 academic year, there are 56 academic groups with multilingual education, the total number of students is 375. For the purpose of increasing the attractiveness of higher and postgraduate education and positioning of Kazakhstani universities in the international educational space, the university is implementing internationalization directions. More than 60 agreements on mutual cooperation with foreign universities have been concluded. Within the framework of cooperation in the 2019-2020 academic year, 26 students were trained under the academic mobility program at partner universities.
