Seoul Bible Graduate School of Theology was founded by pastors and church-goers who were led by Pastor Lee. Gyesil to disaffiliated themselves from Hannam presbytery, when shrine worshipping was voted to be ‘national ceremony’ by the 27th Chosun Presbyterian Church in September, 1938. Currently the school is affiliated with. The General Assembly of Presbyterian church in korea, which was established to preserve integrity of faith while rejecting shrine worshipping and dongbangyobae (bowing toward Eastern direction, the direction of the Japanese Palace) After the Korean War, these pastors and church-goers moved to Geoje Island in Gyeongsangnam-do and started Bible School there in December, 1953 under the Calvinistic theology of trusting the biblical inerrancy. They focused on nurturing religious workers until 1954, when Korean Presbyterian Church Theology School was founded in Munheon-dong, Busna.
