About the university
Two women’s Bible Schools were founded in Jeonju and Gwangju by the Southern Presbyterian Church U.S.A. 1928. 9. Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Hamilton donated funds for the construction of a campus in Jungwhasan-dong, Jeonju under the name of Hamilton Bible School. 1961. 4. Hamilton Bible School and the Neel Bible School (in Gwangju) were merged into one school in Jeonju under the new name, Hanil Women’s Theological School. 1982. 3. Renamed Hanil Theological College; male students were admitted for the first time 1984. 11. Received accreditation as a four year college by the Korean Ministry of Education 1993. 2. Moved into a newly constructed campus located in Shinri, Sangkwan-myeon 1993. 12. Received full accreditation as a regular university by the Korean Ministry of Education 1995. 03. Renamed Hanil Theological University 1996. 11. Established the Hanil Theological Seminary and the Asia Pacific Graduate School of Theological Studies 1997. 10. Established the Graduate School of Christian Social Welfare 1998. 09 Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Korea and renamed Hanil Jangshin University, or Hanil University and Presbyterian Theological Seminary in English 2002. 11. Established the Graduate School of NGO Policy Studies 2005. 9. Established the Graduate School with Master and Doctorate programs 2006. 2. Received ‘Excellent marks’ in the second evaluation of the welfare service for students with disabilities. 2007. 3. Received ‘Most Excellent marks’ in the second evaluation of Korean universities 2009. 2. Received ‘Most Excellent marks’ in the third evaluation of the welfare service for students with disabilities 2012. 1 Established the Cyber Life-Long Educational Institute, first among the Universities and the Seminaries in Korea 2012. 3.
