About the university
Within the framework of the traditional links between France and Lebanon, a multidisciplinary team of Franco-Lebanese academics has formed around the French Association for the Development of Higher Education (AFDES), a non-profit association, Non-confessional and secular, whose head office is located in Lyon. Studies carried out in conjunction with Lebanese officials in the public and private sectors have demonstrated the important needs of the labor market for higher level university-level technological training. These trainings prepare the students to accompany the current economic and technological changes. With this in mind, AFDES has decided to give concrete expression to its action by setting up an academic center for teaching and applied research in Lebanon North, using innovative teaching methods and taking advantage of the experiences of developed education systems Technological superior. The Center was approved by the Lebanese State by Decree No. 9278 of 5 October 1996, under the name of the University Center for Technology in Tripoli, Lebanon North (CUT). The facility opened its doors on the Deddeh site on 30 October 1997 in an environment conducive to academic activities and easy access from all parts of Lebanon North. By decree 851 of November 30, 2007 the CUT is transformed into a University of Technology and Applied Sciences Libano-French. This transformation is a continuation of the CUT's teachings but has allowed for a wider diversification of training.
