Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak (SBM) is an institution of education and training to meet the socio-economic needs of local and regional ( Local and regional socio-economic needs ) in a particular field, especially for the needs of the service sector ( service industries ) are rising, whether on stage small and medium industries (SMIs) as well as multi-national companies. Establishment of the Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak is in line with the national transformation agenda is to improve competitiveness through the development of high-income economies, especially in terms of human capital generates a versatile and able to change the market dynamic work environment. The target student is Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and workers ( working adults ) who need upskill and re-skilling . Learning Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak emphasizes Virtual Online and Distance Learning (OVDL) within the framework of e-Learning . Most of the teachers are those who have industry experience. Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak was commissioned in November 2012 with a total staff of 18 people. However, while the operation is in the Polytechnic Campus Kuching, Jalan Matang on February 19, 2013. Operating Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak has moved in the permanent campus in Betong. The first intake of students was started in June 2013. The programs offered are Diploma in Banking and Finance and a Diploma in Tourism Management.
