About the university
The creation of the LIU in Mauritania is an extension of the Universal Academic Educational Project launched for more than a quarter of a century in Lebanon in the Bekaa region on the initiative of His Excellency Abderrahim Mourad, who had held several ministerial portfolios in Including the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Vocational and Technical Education, and the Ministry of National Defense. Mr. Mourad is the founder of a network of complementary educational institutions and associations since 1978 in the Western Bekaa region, which is considered to be among the most disadvantaged regions in Lebanon.
