About the university
The Center for Studies Espinosa Yglesias was established on the initiative of the Board of the Espinosa Rugarcía Foundation (link is external) on September 5, 2005. The patronage is chaired by Dr. Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía and Amparo, Julio and Manuel Serrano Espinosa. The Center was established in memory of Don Manuel Espinosa Yglesias, an exceptional businessman and Mexican philanthropist of the 20th century. The ideological framework of the Center is inspired by his thinking, which is examined in the book Manuel Espinosa Yglesias. Essay on their intellectual history (CEEY, 2006). Among the great challenges facing Mexican society, the founders decided that the nature of the Center was such as to affect public opinion and the design and implementation of public policies that would improve the well-being of Mexicans. Therefore the theme is of social, economic and political nature, and has a high public profile. In particular, it seeks to involve civil society more and more and that the Mexican State progresses and matures as such.
