About the university
In the period from 1930 to 1982, Ensenada became one of the most important fishing development centers in the north-west of the country. The exploitation, processing and commercialization of fishery products such as tuna, shark, sardine, abalone, lobster, mackerel, Turtles and squid. The organization of the Regional Federation of Cooperative Societies of the Fishing Industry in Baja California was promoted, as well as the establishment of fishing companies. In 1950, he started in the Sauzal the construction of a shipyard that later moved to the port of Ensenada, where he operated as Astilleros Rodríguez. In 1939, the first oceanographic research was conducted on the western coast of Baja California, from the US border, to Cedros Island, led by Dr. Sverdrup, aboard the ship E. W. Scripps.
