About the university
The Normal Rural School "Gral. Plutarco Elías Calles, "was established in April 1937, in the fifth estate, which was assigned by the Ejido of San Ignacio Cohuirimpo, Navojoa. Sonora, to this location is owed the pseudonym of "El Quinto", after having operated in the City of Ures, Sonora, as Agricultural School Practical, with a new plan and program of studies that established two years of complementary training and Three years of agricultural training. With this new plan and program of studies, the school becomes a boarding school for boys only, with the aim of training its students so that, upon graduation, they taught the farmers agricultural techniques and veterinary medicine they had learned.
