About the university
By the mid-twentieth century, universities offering higher-level interpretation and translation studies were relatively few. In our country, the pioneer institution in the training of interpreters and translators is the Instituto Superior de Interpreters y Traductores (ISIT), which opened its doors in 1980 thanks to the vision of its founders. The ISIT began with the programs of Licenciatura in Interpretation and of Degree in Translation with Recognition of Official Validity of Studies, granted by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and has continued to grow academically. The Bachelor's degree in Languages was opened in 2000; In addition, three postgraduate degrees have been opened: the specialties in Comparative Law, in Terminology and in Diplomatic Studies. All this makes the ISIT a top-ranking institute with national and international recognition, which has signed agreements and close academic relations with several national and foreign universities, some of which have exchange programs. The main objective of the ISIT is to prepare its students to graduate with the highest level of knowledge and maximum mastery of the techniques necessary for their professional performance in interpretation, translation, languages, terminology and diplomacy. The central focus on the languages studied is concentrated in the deep domain of Spanish, English and French, as the main languages of the continent, in addition to Portuguese or Italian as optional languages, all in their cultural context.
