About the university
Since 1992, the Gestalt School of Design is an institution of higher studies. However, its origins go back to the year 1987, when it was founded in Xalapa, Veracruz, with an original teaching proposal at university level in Mexico. This educational model is based on studies of gestalt psychology and a creative approach. Relation knowledge of Aesthetics, technicians, human theorists and allows the school teachers to focus the teaching of design in a global way. This results in the students' easy understanding and interpretation of the concepts of form. Originally the plan was to boost the careers of architecture and industrial design, but due to infrastructure requirements, it was decided to opt for graphic design. The architect Joel Olivares founds the School starting with a diploma of four semesters. At this time the School was promoted at the local level, in radio and in the press. At the same time there was a boom in the design, which had an impact on the number of students. In 1988, the teacher Antonio Pérez "Ñiko", began to give free courses and helped to complete the diploma. It is not until 1991, that the possibility of studying the Degree in Graphic Design in the city of Xalapa is given.
