About the university
The Intercultural University of Chiapas is a public university located in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Founded in 2004, it is one of the youngest public universities in Chiapas and is the result of confrontations between the EZLN and the Federal Government. Despite its recent creation, UNICH has expanded to other corners of the state, with units Academic institutions located in Oxchuc, Las Margaritas, Yajalón and Tulijá Valley. The Intercultural University of Chiapas is an Institution of Public and Decentralized Higher Education of the State Government, based on the intercultural educational model, forms professionals of quality, with values, social commitment and dominion of languages originating from the entity, from the integration Of knowledge of the original and scientific peoples to contribute to the construction of a society with a better quality of life.
