About the university
Based on the demand of the school population for ample spaces and sufficient to educate themselves, on December 8, 1954, the State Congress, being Governor of the State Oscar Soto Maynez, issued decree 171 with which The UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE CHIHUAHUA (UACH) was founded. In its first years it served a school population that barely reached a thousand in the enrollment of each school cycle. It was the time when the total population of Mexico amounted to only 26 million inhabitants and in our state they lived three quarters of a million. At that time, the total enrollment of higher education in the country was made up of 29,000 students.
