About the university
In 1966, with the decree 4783 promulgated by the governor Julián Gascón Mercado, created the Patronage of the City of Culture Amado Nervo and in 1969, with the decree 5162, also promulgated by the governor Julián Gascón Mercado, the University of Nayarit and its Organic Law, consolidating definitively the work begun in 1925 by the governors Felipe C. Ríos and Ricardo Velarde. In 1975, during the government of Roberto Gómez Reyes, another important step was taken in decreeing university autonomy with the reform of several articles to the Organic Law, Endowing the organs of the university with the capacity to govern themselves, conforming their structure, attributions, sanctions and all that they deem necessary to carry out university work. Autonomy that at that moment did not consolidate itself, Since part of the university community that directed it from the end of the seventies to the mid-eighties, did it ignoring the legislation product of the reform of 1975.
