About the university
In 1989, the Ministry of Public Education launched the program for the evaluation and improvement of Higher Education; undertaking studies on new options for higher education. The experiences of countries with greater economic growth were analyzed, among them the United States of America, France, Japan, Germany and Great Britain. It was found that the modality of higher education of the French university institutes of technology were the most adequate to adapt them to Mexico. Accordingly, and considering fundamentally the situation of higher education in Mexico, as well as socioeconomic, labor and educational expectations in several regions of the country, it was agreed to establish a new educational model through the "Technological Universities" which was determined to be carried out in Aguascalientes, State of Mexico and Hidalgo, in 1991.
