About the university
The Technological Institute of Higher Studies of the Carboniferous Region began its activities on September 10, 1991 with the degrees of Industrial Engineering and Degree in Computer Science, starting the construction of its definitive headquarters, in the Villa de Agujita itself, Municipality of Sabinas, Coahuila . In 1993 the Electromechanical Engineering career was registered and in 1996 two more careers were opened: Engineering in Computer Systems and Electronic Engineering. In August 2003, the Mechatronics Engineering career was added to the educational offer. In September 2003, certification was achieved in ISO 9001: 2000 certifying the substantive functions of teaching, research, extension and dissemination of culture. In June 2008, the First Xtremotec Río Sabinas, an event that was born with the intention of promoting extreme sports in the Carboniferous region, was launched with great success, as well as instilling in the population in general the culture of care and conservation of our natural resources .
