About the university
The Universidad Politécnica de Sinaloa (UPSIN) arises from a correspondence between the two levels of government, Federal and State, sharing the same concern to diversify the educational offer in those regions that do not have viable options to operate. In addition, it emerges as part of the proposal contained in the National Education Program 2000-2006, which seeks to promote the development with equity of a system of higher education of good quality that responds with opportunity to the social and economic demands of the country and obtain better Levels of certainty, confidence and satisfaction of their results. The need to strengthen higher education in the south of our federal state motivated the State Executive to create a high-quality higher education institution capable of forming exemplary citizens, with mastery of state-of-the-art technology and with the ability to fully integrate its environment. After several studies of economic order and educational supply and demand, it was decided to install the UPSIN in the city and port of Mazatlan, in turn that had the favorable conditions, both in educational and industrial infrastructure and in the provision of services. These studies showed the need to create engineering degrees in Biotechnology, Mechatronics and Computer Science.
