About the university
Abdou Moumouni University was created by Law No. 71-31 of September 6, 1971 under the name of Center of Higher Education (CES) of Niamey. The ESC was placed under the supervision of the President of the Republic or the Minister designated by him, namely the Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports and was administered by a Board of Director. It included a Pedagogical Institute and a Higher School of Sciences, embryo of the current Faculty of Sciences. By Law No. 73-23 of September 20, 1973, the CES will be transformed into University called Niamey University administered by a Council of the University and directed by a Rector. Order No. 044 / MEN / JS / CAB of 3 October 1973 replaced the Pedagogical Institute by a University Institute for Pedagogical Training (IUFP). Decree 74-108 / PCMS / MEN / JS of 28 May 1974 established schools and institutes. These are the Ecole des Lettres, the Ecole Supérieure d'Agronomie, the Ecole de Pédagogie, the Ecole des Sciences, the Research Institute on Mathematics Education and the Institute of Research in Science human. Decree No. 74-262 / PCMS / MEN / JS 1 st October 1974 created the School of Health Sciences.
