About the university
The National University of Pilar is a university of Paraguay founded in 1991 . Its headquarters are in the city of Pilar and was created by law in 1994 . Since then it has operated in several cities of the country. It has been created with five faculties and since 2013 has seven. It is a public university that promotes public education, free of charge and quality. After the assumption of the current President of the Republic, Horacio Cartes , the UNP has suffered a series of persecutions that culminated in the intervention of the National Council of Higher Education. This intervention was unanimously lifted, on July 28, 2015, due to lack of merit. The resistance of teachers, university students and the educational community of the UNP has been key to prevent the enslavement of university autonomy. Since then, a Resistance group, made up of teachers and students, has been strengthened, seeking to strengthen the UNP in different areas.
