About the university
Cebu Normal University (CNU) was established in 1902 as the Cebu Normal School, a provincial normal school, a branch of the Philippine Normal School. With the passage of RA 5128 in 1967, Cebu Normal School was renamed Cebu Normal College. In 1976, it was converted into a state college by virtue of PD 944. On June 27, 1998, the school (then called Cebu State College) attained university status and was named Cebu Normal University (CNU) pursuant to RA 8688. In 2008, CNU had two extension colleges in Medellin and Balamban in Cebu. A leading multidisciplinary research university of education committed to build a strong nation. Mission: To develop high-performing professionals and intellectuals proficient in generating new knowledge toward a progressive and peaceful pluralistic society.
