About the university
Cracow University of Economics (UEK) - Polish state university, the third largest university in Krakow, the second oldest state university in Poland, the largest university in Poland in terms of number of students. The university was founded on May 28, 1925 as the State Higher Trade Studies. In 1937 it was transformed into a Commercial Academy. In 1950, it was transformed into a Higher School of Economics with three faculties, and in 1974 it was named the Cracow University of Economics. Pursuant to the Act of 6 July 2007 on the new name of the Cracow University of Economics, it was granted the title of Krakow University of Economics on August 25, 2007.
