State Higher Vocational School in Krosno

The State Higher Vocational School is the first university in Krosno, but proudly refers to the rich history of education in our city at the middle or upper secondary level of teaching staff for the surrounding schools.   This tradition dates back to the times when Krosno had already had a prosperous economy in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. With the introduction of the Jesuits in 1614, the Jesuit started in 1631 the functioning of a school, which after sixteen years of intense educational activity in the classes of grammar, rhetoric and humanities; Thanks to the appropriate selection of cadres was raised to the rank of college. In 1647 the Jesuits opened the first dormitory and dormitory. Thanks to the entrepreneurship of the monks and numerous funds and records, the college survived, with minor breaks, until 1773. The massacre of the Order and the liquidation of the college spawned over a century of educational collapse, which ended with the opening of the State Teacher's Seminary in Krosno in 1895. R. In the 20th century, the College of Textiles was opened in the college building and then the Textile Technikum.
