About the university
The Singapore Institute of Technology (or SIT/Singaporetech)[3] (Abbreviation: SIT) is Singapore's fifth autonomous university. Established in 2009, the University aims to be a leader in offering Applied Learning degrees. The university remains a popular choice for polytechnic graduates and specialises in offering practical-oriented & industry-focused degrees in Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Food Technology, Infocomm Technology, Health and Social Sciences, Design and Specialised Business through collaboration with ten of its overseas university partners from the Germany, United States and UK. A Bill was passed in the Parliament of Singapore on February 17, 2014 conferring the university autonomous status, allowing it to confer its own degrees. The university offers 2 Types of Degree programmes, the first being under the name of its Overseas University Partners and the second being solely by SIT itself. The university begin enrolling its inaugural cohort of students for its own degree programmes in Academic Year 2014/2015.
