About the university
Anton de Kom University is the only university in Suriname. It is located in the capital, Paramaribo, and named for Anton de Kom, an anti-colonialist activist who was killed by the Nazis while in exile in the Netherlands. The mission is formulated as follows: "Sharing knowledge and sharing in sustainable partnership" Conducting high-level scientific and socially responsible research; The dissemination and transfer of scientifically based knowledge and expertise within the Surinamese society, the region and beyond; A committed independence through a sustainable partnership with government, business, civil society and international partners; A culture of openness as a possibility for a discreetly contradictory debate with the partners.
