Emanation of the old "School of Nurses" founded in 1907, the University of Applied Sciences of Freiburg (HEdS-FR) is a member school of the HES-SO. The HEdS-FR is officially recognized by the Confederation as an institution of university level.   The school now has more than 600 students, nearly 400 of whom are professionally trained in French, German or bilingual, leading to a bachelor's degree in nursing or a bachelor's / master's degree in osteopathy, and more 200 in preparation for a bachelor's degree in the health field. In addition to the Bachelors / Master programs, it also carries out its activities in the fields of applied research, continuing education and services in several fields of expertise (aging population health, psycho geriatrics, chronicity and long-term care, Psychiatry and mental health, cardiology, symptom management, etc.).
