About the university
Immediately after Tunisia's independence, and since 6 November 1956, the State Secretariat for Information organized a training course for journalists. Another experiment was initiated in 1964 at the Bach Hamba Institute for the training of journalists and documentalists. It was the Finance Act of 30 December 1967 which created IPSI under Article 26. Just after one year, IPSI was attached to the State Secretariat for Education. Since 1968, the IPSI has also benefited from the assistance of the German Foundation Friedrich Naumann. During this period, The journalistic training necessarily took place in parallel with another university training provided in another faculty.
