This course combines a thorough understanding of theories and practices in the area of mass media, marketing and public relations, with an insight into the workings of the industries. Half of the degree is dedicated to the study of media; the other half to marketing and public relations. The course sits in the School of Culture and Communications, however in order to provide the best expertise in all areas, it combines units from two Faculties/Departments: Media related course unit, School of Culture and Communications Marketing and Public Relations course units, Department of International Business, Marketing and Tourism The Media side of the degree aims to provide you knowledge of the social, political and historical dimensions of contemporary media forms and institutions and introduce you to the major schools of critical theory and their relationship to the media and media texts. The course also has an emphasis on practical skills (in the area of radio and written journalism), and it embeds more recent media forms all across the units.
