About the university
Established in 1856, Arts University Plymouth is an independent university-sector art school run by artists and designers for artists and designers. Here, we continue to invest heavily in new studios and workshops that redefine the relationship between media, fine art, digital technology and handcrafted traditions. We are proud of our commitment to both traditional and digital art courses. Our £8 million specialist art, craft and digital design centre opened in 2014 with cutting-edge ceramics, glass and digital design workshops, including a range of facilities situated in Fab Lab Plymouth, such as 3D printing and laser cutting. Our students make full use of our industry-standard dedicated studio spaces – including our Infinity Cove, Textile Studios, Glassblowing house, and Equipment Resource Centre. The Equipment Resource Centre (ERC) is our hub of media resources. Every student has access to over 6,000 items of industry-standard photography, film and audio kit. All equipment can be loaned FREE of charge to staff and students following an induction, and workshops are regularly available so that you can build your technical skills in a wide range of equipment. Our loan system also enables students to take equipment off-site for location and project work. The ERC can supply everything from small-scale digital compact cameras to Arri SR2 super 16mm, super 8mm and 8mm Bolex cameras.

You apply for a visa once you have been issued with a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) by Arts University Plymouth, subject to you confirming acceptance of your offer from us. Applicants may be required to attend a pre-CAS interview with our compliance agents, and we may request evidence of funds to cover tuition fees and living costs for a full year of study before we will issue a CAS.
