About the university
n 1930 an institute of public education was opened in Bukhara, which became the first secular higher educational institution in the history of the city. One of the founders of this institute were Abdurauf Fitrat and Fayzulla Khodjaev. After the abolition of the BNR, the institution actually ceased to exist. In 1930, the Bukhara Pedagogical Institute was organized by the government of the Uzbek SSR. In the first years of the existence of this educational institution, there were only two departments - historical-social and chemical-biological, and the number of students was 45 people. Already by 1935 the institute had five branches, which were subsequently converted into faculties.
