About the university
The democratization of basic education in Venezuela led to a rise in the demand for university education in Venezuela in the 1970s. Thus, in December 1974, the organizing commission was created to create a university that would meet the demand for vocational training of the inhabitants of the Venezuelan Western Plains and respond to the production and training needs of the country. This commission aimed to advance feasibility studies, organization, operation and development of the institution; And was composed of Manuel V. Benezra (president), Humberto Jiménez, Carlos Muñoz Oraa, Ricardo Valderrama, Antonio J. Álvarez, Gilberto Cárdenas, Alfredo Ducharne, Juan Pedro del Moral, Antonio Aranguibel, Félix Morales Bueno and Francisco Manzanilla. Was added later Felipe Gómez Álvarez.
