About the university
ACN began operating on 1 July 2012 and continues to build on the strength of its two predecessor organisations: the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) and The College of Nursing (TCoN), both of whom have represented the nursing profession since 1949. ACN is a public company limited by guarantee and a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. ACN’s intent is to enhance health care by advancing nurse leadership. It does this by developing and nurturing the leadership skills and expertise of nurses. Through its membership and education services, and leadership development program, ACN encourages and supports nurses at every level to develop their leadership skills and competency in order to make a strong contribution to policy by providing their professional, economic and health perspectives.
