M EIA, MINDELO International School of ART

M_EIA, MINDELO_International School of ART, legally recognized as a University Institute of Art, Technology and Culture, is the first, and so far only, higher education space in the arts and design areas, including the training of secondary school teachers in Respective areas in Cape Verde. M_EIA aims to awaken creative dynamics based on the deep knowledge of the country's social matrices, according to interdisciplinary and inter-cultural approaches. M_EIA is created in 2004 by Atelier Mar, consolidated 25 years of experience in the area of ​​artistic education. After its creation, with the support of the Ministry of Education through the PRET - Project for the Reform of Technical Education, financed Luxembourg cooperation, M_EIA conceives and launches a training course for teachers from the artistic path to secondary education. This initiative, which had a strong technical and pedagogical support of the Identities program, in association with the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto, was aimed at bridging the deficiencies in artistic education in secondary education in Cape Verde. In March 2008, with the experience already acquired coming from the first cycle of 3 years, the school materializes one of its initial objectives; The creation of the degrees in Equipment Design, Communication Design and Visual Arts that came to join recently the course of Integrated Master in Architecture. These with the option of specialization in teaching or vocational training. The M_EIA, today, presents itself as an educational, laboratory, and experimental space, prepared for the exercise of cultural investments necessary for the development of culture as a generator of economic sustainability.
