About the university
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) is a prestigious university in China under the direct leadership of the Chinese Ministry of Education and jointly established by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (the former Ministry of Public Health), State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) and the municipal government of Beijing. Its leading subjects are traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Chinese materia medica. It is the exclusive top university of traditional Chinese medicine listed under the Project 985 and Project 211. Founded in 1956, the university, originally known as Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of the earliest established institutions of higher learning of traditional Chinese medicine approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
