About the university
The National University of Colombia installed in 1989 the Scientific Station of Leticia as a research and extension space in the Amazon region. In 1994, it elevated its status as the fifth Headquarters of the University and through Agreement 012 of March 15, 1995 of the Higher University Council established the Amazon Institute of Investigations "Imani", as the first academic unit of the Headquarters. Through the Headquarters and the Imani, the National University has been engaged in the production, systematization and projection of knowledge about and from the Amazon region, in face of current and future responsibilities related to its geo-strategic and environmental importance. In this way it contributes to the consolidation of the Nation by promoting processes of border integration and projecting itself internationally CAMPUS is located two kilometers from the city center of Leticia. It has a library, laboratories, classrooms, academic secretariat, management and administration offices, teachers' hall, ecological trail, a lookout point and accommodation for teachers.
