About the university
The Universidad Politécnica de El Salvador (UPES) is a non -profit, multi-disciplinary university. The UPES was founded on February 8, 1979 by forty professionals. In its early years the university was sponsored by the Association of Professionals in Technology, Société Anonyme de Société Capital Variable ( APTESA ), until it became self-financing. In March 1979, the Polytechnic University began its academic activities with the following degrees: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Agroindustrial Engineering, all of which belonged to the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture; With the course of the time they were incorporated to this Faculty the Agronomic Engineering, Engineering in Computer Science and Computer Systems Technician. Subsequently, in February 1983, the University founded the Faculty of Economics offering a degree in Business Administration, Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in Public Accounting, Bachelor in Marketing and Technical in Marketing. The Polytechnic University has three faculties in which 10 courses are administered, its student population is approximately 1580 students, who are attended by 147 teachers full time, part time and per hour class.
