About the university
FLACSO is a regional and autonomous organization dedicated to teaching and research. The FLACSO unit El Salvador started in 1992 as a temporary project. In 1994, it became a permanent unit. Its area of activity is basically El Salvador, and its Central American activity seeks coordination with the FLACSO units in Costa Rica and Guatemala. Until 1995, it concentrated its activities on projection, dissemination, training and non-formal teaching, but in 1996 began a process of strengthening research. Currently, FLACSO El Salvador has a research agenda that privileges projects related to the formulation and / or implementation of public policies. The vision of FLACSO El Salvador is to be an institution of reference in social sciences recognized for the quality of its work in research and training, and for its capacity to propose, in relevant areas of social policy of the Central American region, financially sustainable and organizationally operative .
