About the university
The current name of the Military School was adopted in compliance with the decree of August 25, 1965, during the administration of Col. Julio Adalberto Rivera, baptizing it from that date like Military School "Captain General Gerardo Barrios", by initiative of the then Minister of the National Defense, Cnel. Marco Aurelio Zacapa. The main interest of the Military School "Captain General Gerardo Barrios" is to prepare the new generations of Salvadorans in an integral way, in order to fulfill the mission entrusted to this Center of Education to train scientific, intellectual, moral and physical Cadet , So that after four years of study obtains the rank of second lieutenant and to study another year of studies as part of the Degree in Military Administration, this allows them to begin the professional exercise of the military career in accordance with the established in the Constitution of the Republic.
