About the university
Originally created in 1908 by René Nicklès , the Institute of Applied Geology of Nancy (IGAN) is only a modest structure when Marcel Roubault took over in 1938. He transformed it into a Higher School of Applied Geology and Prospection by decree of December 4, 1944, and then in the National Higher School of Applied Geology and Mineral Prospecting by Decree of March 27, 1948. Moreover, the position of Marcel Roubault, who from 1948 to 1952 was simultaneously director of the school and director of uranium research at the CEA , gave a special aura to the school [ref. Required] . From 1948, he gradually obtained the creation of new laboratories, the allocation of significant resources and the construction of modern premises.
