About the university
Inaugurated in 1837, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), has been the first university of Greece and the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean region. With 42 Departments belonging to 9 schools, the NKUA offers 41 undergraduate programs and 213 postgraduate programs covering most fields of Science and Arts (Law, Science, Philosophy, Health Sciences, Economics & Political Sciences, Education, Theology, Physical Education & Sport Science, Agricultural Development & Nutrition). 29 of these master programs are taught in a foreign language. Two bachelor programs are taught in English and are open to foreign students to apply. - Medical Degree (https://medicen.uoa.gr) - BA Program in the Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece (https://baag.uoa.gr) Consistently ranked among the top universities, the NKUA is a research University with 2,100 faculty members, 68,500 graduate, and postgraduate students. As internationalization has been a key strategic goal of the University, it shares a long-term strategy on education, research, and innovation with 466 Universities from 62 countries. Currently, 7,600 international students are registered in undergraduate or postgraduate level programs. With more than 300 laboratories and clinics, 11 libraries, 13 centers of excellence, 3 hospitals, and 3,500 ongoing research projects, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is committed to innovation and academic excellence.
