Indraprastha College for Women

Established in 1924, in the movement of nationalist philanthropists for women’s education in Delhi, housed in a heritage building, marching towards its centenary, the College is proudly aware of its glorious history and tradition. The institution is the oldest women’s college of the University of Delhi. The Vision of the College is to educate, enable and empower young women, emphasizing the need to mainstream the marginalized and weaker sections among them to ensure justice and equity in society. The Mission is to steer the education it offers not only to lead to the pragmatic goal of employability, but also to build a life of the mind and sensitize and orient its students to the service of the community, in the quest for a better life for society and the world that we inhabit. The College endeavors to nurture confident and responsible citizens who will uphold the values enshrined in the motto of the College “Truth, Love, Knowledge, Service”. To this end, the College’s mission statement is set out as definite tasks which define the College’s distinctive characteristics in terms of addressing, the students it seeks to serve, the institution's traditions and value orientations, the needs of society and its course for the future. The Mission is dynamic and its tasks are defined and periodically reviewed to meet the challenges and opportunities of changing times. The Objectives of the College are stated in the tasks of the Mission.
