Silda Chandra Sekhar College

Silda Chandra Sekhar College (Estd. 9 November 1971) is situated in the tribal area in the western region of Paschim Medinipur, nearly thirty kilometre away from Jhargram Sub-divisional Headquarter. With more than one thousand students, with its soothing pastoral setting and campus full of greenery, our college is a popular choice and today, we are proud to be able to offer an extensive choice of courses. The college started its journey with a few general subjects in the field of humanities. From then onwards there has been a steady growth in academic pursuits with the introduction of several honours subjects. The college is affiliated to Vidyasagar University and recognised by the University Grants Commission under section 2 (f) and 2 (B). This college is now well supported with a comprehensive library with a large number of text books, reference books, journal and magazines in it. Our college has a spacious seminar room well equipped with modern gadgetry. A multi-gym and a large play-ground are also there to help the students in their pursuit of all round development. A new classroom building and an office building with modern facilities are under construction. The college is to provide us with free wireless internet access throughout the campus shortly. The teachers are cordial in their approach to the students. The non-teaching staff are also very attentive to the needs of the students. Despite the paucity of resources we are confident and resolved to move ahead and improve infrastructural facilities for the better functioning of our institution.
