Kushmandi Government College

About Kushmandi Government College: The College has been established by the West Bengal State Government to fulfil the need of higher education at such remote areas of Kushmandi and adjacent localities in 2014. It has started its first academic session from 2015-2016 with five Departments namely, Bengali, English, History, Philosophy and Political Science both in Honours and General Courses. At present the college is located at Aminpur, Kushmandi and its first session is running at Aminpur High School as the main college building at Mahagram, Kushmandi is still not completed. There are 156 students in total, enrolled in this year (71 students in Honours Courses and 85 students in General Courses) in different Honours and General subjects while the actual intake capacity of students is 325, among these 125 in Honours Subjects (25 in each subjects) and 200 in General Courses (40 in each Subjects). At present 13 Assistant Professor are working in these five departments of this college and they all have been recruited permanently by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal through WBPSC. There are also five non-teaching staffs one Group C (UDC) and 4 Group D (two Darwans & two Night Guards). The college is gradually developing by the help of State Government and in future it will play a role of Model College in Dakshin Dinajpur District.
