About the university
State Polytechnic of Medan or formerly known as Polytechnic University of North Sumatra (Polytechnic of USU) is a state university located in Medan City, North Sumatera, Indonesia. State Polytechnic of Medan has a campus adjacent to the University of North Sumatra. In 1979 the University of North Sumatra was designated as one of 6 universities/ institutes that received the development project of Polytechnic Stage I Education from DIKTI, with the name Polytechnic University of North Sumatra (Polytechnic USU) Medan. The development of the USU Polytechnic is funded by the World Bank. In the first phase of the construction of technical education is the implementation of the assistance of experts from Switzerland who placed in Medan. Furthermore, at stage II, a trade system in education is supported by Australian experts and facilities. The development of the education sector began to be organized in 1986 and assisted by experts from Australia.
