About the university
History of Yogyakarta State University can not be separated from the development of IKIP Yogyakarta and Universitas Gadjah Mada. Based on PP 37/1950, on January 23, 1951, Universitas Gadjah Mada. In the development of UGM, there are several faculties that became the embryo of the birth of IKIP Yogyakarta, such as the Faculty of Education (FIP), Faculty of Physical Education (FPD), and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). Based on Ministerial decree PDK 92, 1962 stands Institute of Teacher Education (IPG). Meanwhile, IPG and FKIP are education. From there came Presidential Decree No.1, 1963 on January 3, 1963 which decided the unification of FKIP and IPG into the Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP). The implementation of this Presidential Decree stipulates the establishment of IKIP Jakarta, IKIP Bandung, IKIP Yogyakarta, and IKIP Malang officially established on May 1, 1963.
