About the university
Muhammadiyah Gresik University was established as an effort to improve the business charity Muhammadiyah in the field of higher education, because at that time in Gresik District Level II no university yet. Based on the Decree of Muhammadiyah Regional Leader of Gresik Regency, Majelis Pendidikan Teaching and Culture Number: E.1 / 017-V / 1980 dated May 25, 1980, stands Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik which was inaugurated by Regent of KDH Level II of Gresik Regency, Bapak Kolonel Wasiadji, SH who also As a protector. Located at Muhammadiyah University Jl. Kh. Kholil No. 90 Gresik. Since 1983 the University of Muhammadiyah Gresik has applied for registered status to Kopertis Region VI (now Region VII). Based on the instructions of Kopertis Region VII and the joint agreement between IKIP Muhammadiyah Surabaya, Muhammadiyah Surabaya Institute of Technology and Muhammadiyah Gresik University, the three universities are combined based on the Letter of Decision of the Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia. Number: 0141/0/1984 dated 9 March 1984 became University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya. In Gresik itself was given the name Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya Gresik Campus.
